Windows 10: Stereo Mix on new HP ENVY 17 -- is there any possible way to do this?

Hi everyone.

I have a new HP ENVY 17 computer, purchased late September. Stereo Mix is simply missing.

I have tried all of the usual fixes:

1) Update all drivers
2) Get latest drivers from HP site
3) Show disconnected / disabled devices n Sound Control Panel
4) Install that 2017 Realtek HD CODEC from the HP site

None of this worked. I believe from other discussions on this site that they've simply removed Stereo Mix from the driver.

It is important to me to have Stereo Mix, to where I will return the computer if I can't make it appear. I have tried software solutions like Virtual Audio Cable in the past, and they don't meet my needs (which I won't bother getting into).

Is there any possible way to force Stereo Mix to appear as a feature here? I appreciate any help.

I have Windows 10 Version 1909.

• Did Windows 10 come pre-installed on your device?
• Have you checked for any available updates for your drivers?

Windows 10 Stereo Mix

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

Try the following steps to enable the stereo mix and check if that help.



a) Right click on the audio icon in your system tray and select “Recording Devices” to open the Recording device settings in the “Sound” window.



b) In the pane, right-click on a blank area, and make sure both “View Disabled Devices” and “View Disconnected Devices” options are checked. You should be able to see the “Stereo Mix” option appearing.



c) Right-click on “Stereo Mix” and click “Enable” to be able to use it.



This should enable the “Stereo Mix” on Windows



Method 2:

If the issue persists then I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the sounds card driver and check if it helps.

• 
  Right Click on Start, Select Device Manager.
  
• 
  Find and double-click the category of device whose driver you wish to uninstall.
  
• 
  Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.
  
• 
  Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click
  OK to remove the driver.
  
• 
  After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your computer as soon as possible

BSOD on HP Envy Windows 10 Happens overnight everynight

Every file in the list was version 10.0.14971.100 which is the version of Windows 10 I am on. My laptop is an HP Envy 17 purchased in 12/9/2014. I think there is a mix up somewhere.
