Windows 10: Sticky Notes: Individual notes disappearing from desktop after random time

This particular issue is driving me batty!

I put a sticky note on my desktop, then after a random period of time, sometimes days, sometimes weeks, the note randomly disappears from my desktop on start up. If I open the main list, it is still there, so I can get it back, but I shouldn't have to go through that step in the first place.

I have only been having this issue since running a Sticky Notes upgrade to Sticky Notes 3.

I use Sticky Notes for motivational notes from the month; however, I'll be lucky if the note is still visible on the desktop for a week (two at most). I also use them to give myself goals for the month (or quarterly), but with the disappearing notes from the desktop itself, these notes don't provide the motivation or the checklist like they should.
As I said above, if I open the main list, they are still there, so I can recover them, but I shouldn't need to do that. Once I add a sticky note to my desktop, it should stay there until I tell it to go-away.


Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing?


In addition, ever since running the upgrade, multiple taskbar icons appear for each Sticky Note open on my desktop. The previous version put only a single icon there.

Sticky notes disappeared

Hello Helen,

During the update it's normal for the system to close running applications to avoid complications.

I normally just search for Sticky Notes after a recent installation of the update. Once the program launches , it would then reopen with all the notes I've created before.

If the above scenario is not the case—usually, when you lose Sticky Notes on your desktop, you’ll be able to find all notes from the Sticky Notes folder via StickyNotes.snt files.

Now, to recover your missing notes, you may follow the method suggested by Microsoft Barbie in this old

thread.

Although the thread is for Windows 7, same steps apply to Windows 10.

Tabs in Sticky Notes

Hi. I would really like to have a tabs-feature in Sticky Notes. I have a sticky note pinned to my desktop, I use it as a work to-do list and like that it is always there without having to open a task-app every time I need to see the list.

However, I would like to split my to-do list in sections/topics, one list for this and one list for that. I'm thinking something like in OneNote where I can add one or more tabs at the top. In that way I could easily toggle between the different lists in
the different tabs in the same sticky note.

Alternative is to have more individual sticky notes on my desktop (takes a lot of space), or having a long list in the one sticky note with seperating headers in between the different sections/topics (which forces me to scroll up and down to see all the
stuff). None of the alternatives are optimal.

Not sure if this is possible today, anyone know?

 

sticky notes disappear

Recently I downloaded a couple games from the Microsoft App store. Then I found when I use them the Sticky Notes disappear. I have tried all the on-line tricks including typing sticky notes into search, etc. None work. The sticky note icon is on the tab
bar but the note vanish from the desktop.

If I reboot they appear just fine.

Sounds like the game messing up graphics.
