    Another confusing 'technicality' is that if you do download the MCT tool and run it the first thing you see is another 'update now'. Click it and the MCT behaves in much the same way as the update assistant *Smile

    Success! I just finished installing the Fall update. Sure took a while. Now I have version 1709 (OS build 16299.19). Thanks, everyone, for your assistance with this thread.
