Windows 10: Still waiting for validation of this pc to download

Are you running as administrator? The 2 commands should be separate also.

The first one (start /wait etc) performs the compatibility check (it takes a while), the second one (echo %errorlevel%) displays the result.





As you see (my setup.exe was root of E:\ drive) I got a result of -1047526898 which is C190 020E in hex which according to the TechNet link means "No issues found". That is to be expected as I'm running 10 anyway....

In any case, why not make a backup as @OldMike65 said and then just run the upgrade? You have everything in place and only need to double click on setup.exe. Then you'll definitely know if the upgrade works *Wink

I noticed you downloaded English international by the way. That is for UK English (en-GB) not US - hopefully it is what you want.

Ok i restarted the computer in case my previous opening of setup.exe was causing the issue.

Now when i type the command nothing seems to happen, as in it keeps trying to execute it and i cant type anything because of it. i ve waited like 5 minutes and still nothing.

is it supposed to take so long? Before it didnt take any time at all, i was immediately after typing it able to type something else again.

I am the administrator, and cmd clearly says so at top. And this is the second time i tried that after the restart.

 

It took 5 or 10 minutes for me (not sure exactly as I wasn't watching it all the time but I also thought it wasn't working) - let it run.

 

Ok worked this time, i got -1047526904, which means "•Compatibility issues found (hard block): 0xC1900208"

How can i learn what exactly is causing the compatibility issue?

 

You should have 2 files setupact.log and setuperr.log. Probably in C:\Windows but perhaps in C:\Windows\Panther.

See if you can find some created today when you ran the command. You can open them in Notepad or something. Mine just says this in the activity one and the error one is empty... What language are you running? It looks like en-US (American English) and your ISO is en-GB (UK English).

You have to upgrade using the same language ISO. I'd suggest trying again with English (not English International) ISO.

I'm not sure if the printer drivers or your AV would halt upgrade so I'd suggest download the correct ISO and retry.

If it is still complaining try uninstalling (not just disabling) your AV and try the test again.

I've never heard of printer drivers blocking upgrade but they are in the error log so it is possible I suppose.

 

Hmm ok i ll try the English one, though i thought i had set pc to English-UK. I am downloading it right now and will try again, if the issue is only the printers and the AV i dont think i ll have an issue

Printers are probably really old and some not even in use so they are not a problem at all.

Bitdefender has been a good AV but probably overly protective, had to disable the firewall a few times to do a few things in games or online. Should be compatible with windows 10 or at least downloads a compatible version after installation of windows 10 automatically(Read this from bitdefender site)

I'm not expert on reading these things at all but the only error reported in the top of that xml seems to be the language again...

Could be - it is fine now it says Code: TargetLanguageIsCompatibleForUpgrade: Target language en-US is compatible with the host language[/quote] I'd still uninstall the Bitdefender before the upgrade as it is still complaining about it in the log. You can always re-install after and for sure some people have had issues with it.

It would just be a real shame to have to re-do upgrade when we almost knew about it...

In any case as it is reporting No issues found there is no further checking to do really...
