I don't care if this has been said before, if there is some workaround, or whatever. It's simple. Stop updating without my explicit consent. STOP IT. Make Windows STOP IT.


Yes, I understand that updates are necessary. All you have to implement is one very SIMPLE FEATURE. No 'active hours', no resetting my settings every time an update takes place. All I ask for is a pop up windows that asks me to confirm before a restart EVERY TIME. All I want is the option to save my work before allowing an update, without worrying about whether my computer will make it through lunch without restarting itself. Yes I save regularly, yes office autosaves, but what about Matlab and the specialised software I use? What about everything else? Am I supposed to deal with these lost hours?


There is no need for this. STOP IT. STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT.


One thing stands between me and Linux, and that is Illustrator. I suspect I am not the only one. I hope they have your gratitude, Microsoft.

unfortunately torrents are a bitch to stop - you need some kind of smoothwall/filter PC to stop them, and even then it just tends to slow them a lot, and not stop them entirely.

Your only real option is to get the boss to stop him.

Stop windows automatic driver install

I'm having a problem with installing a nvidia card. windows 7 automatically installs some wdm 1.1 drivers, then when i install the 195.39 drivers, it gives me less performance. like the cards lags in games when it should run fine.

how can i stop windows from installing the drivers automatically ?

i tried checking the "don't install drivers from windows update" in device manager. it still installs it.
