  1. Storage accuracy?

I have a 500Gb SSD drive and checking the storage in settings it told me that the drive had 476Gb which I understood of which 364Gb were used and 109Gb were free. Hoping to free up some space and not wanting to delete my pictures or Music, I decided to tidy up my folders and files. I have a folder with all the applications I have downloaded, presently and in the past, some of which were not used. Taking up about 8Gb of space so I decided to transfer these to a USB stick. Having done this I then deleted the folder and all its contents and emptied the recycle bin and to my amazement instead of an increase in free space it actually dropped to 102Gb free. I have tried disk clean up etc and now it has dropped to 101Gb free .... WHY?
Operating Win 10 Ver. 2004 (OS Build 19041.540)
