    Storage pool 4 * 1TB

I have a spare computer running windows 10 pro, running as a "server". I have added 4 1 tb harddrives and pooled them to have one storage space of +/- 4tb. my question is, If one of my drives fail will the whole pool be gone? i ask because i had created the pool and then the computer had some issue so i disconnected the 2 new drives that i had put in and restarted the computer ( at this point only 2 drives were connected out of the 4) but the pool storage space wouldn't show up, after reconecting the 3rd and 4th drive the pool showed up. is there any way i can save my data in case of one drive failing????

    :)

Storage Spaces - Is there a calculator ?

    Hi JGT,

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I provided 2 types of resiliency that can be used on a 3 drive setup, but for clarity I will include the following table:

    Storage Pool Size
    Resiliency Type
    Usable user space

1TB (using up to 5 drives)
    Stripe (equivalent to RAID 0)
    1TB**

1TB (using up to 5 drives)
Two-way mirror (equivalent to RAID 1+0 with bit rot protection*). Pool size / 2

    500GB**

1TB (using up to 5 drives)
Parity (equivalent to RAID 5). Pool size / 1.5
    666GB**

    1TB (using 5+ drives)
Three-way mirror (equivalent to RAID 6 with bit rot protection*). Pool size / 3
    333GB**

    1TB (using 5+ drives)
Parity (equivalent to RAID 6 without bit rot protection). Pool size / 3
    333GB**

*Note that in order to use the bit rot protection feature, the file system used by the Storage Space needs to be ReFS (Resilient File System).

**Note that the sizes don't include the overhead for file system meta data, etc. The actual usable space will be slightly lower.

Storage pools, update pool with RAID10

    Hello,

So i got RAID10 done with storage pools combined with disk managment (4 drives, 2 mirrored pools done by windows storage spaces and then stripped partitions made by disk managment, creating "cheated" raid10), and i recently discovered that in storage spaces
window, i got info that i can update my pools to gain additional options.

My question is: is is safe for my "cheated" RAID10 array if i update the pools? I mean, if i do it, will storage pools recognize each other and disk managment will recreate my stripped partitions?

    Please help, thank you.
