Windows 10: Strange Problem with Microsoft Edge, Unaware of Cause

As you can see in the supplied image, the screen is buggy and "pixelated." Happens on any website I go to. Does not happen on Chrome or Internet Explorer.

Page scrolling on its own

I tried it in Google instead of Microsoft Edge and it does not do it. Why would Microsoft Edge be the one to cause this? Really strange. Ii switched from Google to Microsoft Edge over a year ago due to issues with Google. Now what?

Hey dude, the 340MB you mentioned is user memory. Firmware is saved in the ROM memory and it will erase the previous firmware files with newer.

First, restart Windows to see if this fixes it. Use Start > Power > Restart to ensure you do a reboot from cold (this way you won't be using 'fast start').

Do you have any Edge extensions? Try turning them off.

Try resetting 'Developer settings'. Type about:flags in the address bar to get to them, there's a 'Reset all flags to default' button.

Is it just web pages, or do Edge's 'internal' pages look like this? Click 'New tab', does this have the same fault? If so, try...
Reinstall and Re-register Microsoft Edge in Windows 10


If the fault persists, tell us what version and build number of Windows 10 you have. Run Winver to check.

 

Unfortunately the problem persists. The 'internal' pages do not look this.

Did you try the reinstall/re-register of Edge?

 

No problem in Chrome or IE, but just for giggles check your drivers. May want to reinstall display driver just to see effect, if any.

Also, may try to temporarily disable any addons and your AV.

 

Well, thanks to your suggestion I figured it out. Upon updating my graphics driver (which was still fairly new -- just from earlier this month) with a clean install, Edge worked fine. Because the previous driver was not very old, I supposed the issue was not the driver itself but a 'rouge' setting. There was a fairly new setting in the NVIDIA control panel called "Optimize for Compute Performance," which I was a bit suspicious of. It had been turned off because of the clean install, but I had previously had it on. When I turned it on again and restarted my computer, Edge went crazy again. Obviously, I then turned it off for good. Any idea why this setting may have caused me problems?

Ah, Nvidia. They are known for releasing drivers a bit too early in the development/test cycle.

Start menu problem

 

I know its June now but i just had the same issue today fiddling with the Nvidia settings and this happend



. It was "Optimize for Compute Performance" that caused the issue with Egde and Chrome. So what does that function do exactly.
