Windows 10: Strange sound issue

I honestly have no clue how to deal with this issue other than restarting and it's really started to get on my nerves. This problem has been ongoing for about a year now on my Asus F402B.


Basically, sound will inexplicably stop working. Usually, the PC will not work with anything plugged into the audio jack at random times. It will recognize that some external device is plugged in, but that is it. No sound will play and videos will not begin playback. The test tone fails when I tried. I use the troubleshooter and wait about 10 minutes for the issue to be resolved... sometimes the issue still is not resolved, sometimes it is.


The only sure solution to it is to restart the PC and the audio will work fine.


Right now, audio is non-existent on both my speaker and audiojack. Windows is still running troubleshooter as I type this. It first disabled audio once I tried repeatedly to play a test tone, recognizing there was a problem. After I started troubleshooter, audio was enabled and playback on videos does begin, but still no sound either through the audio jack or speaker can be heard.


It's a really frustrating issue because I have no clue as to why it happens. It just does at inexplicable times. I'm not sure if it's software, hardware, if the firmware needs to be updated--no clue. Haven't found anyone describe a similar problem either. Just really lost and don't want to take the PC in to a technician, but it's starting to get really bothersome to have to restart every time the PC throws a tantrum and stops audio playback.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

We need to investigate further so that we can identify the cause of the issue. We suggest running the Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Type and select Troubleshooting on the Search bar/Cortana.
• Click Hardware and Sound.
• Select Playing Audio under Sound.
• Follow the steps that will be provided.

If the steps does not work. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the audio driver from Realtek and see if it helps.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
