Windows 10: Struggling to access my pc

My business computer (modern, high spec lenovo that is using windows 10 pro) attempted to update overnight.


When I switch on the computer I received simply my desktop background with no text and no response. Tried usual CMD +CTRL +DEL etc but nothing came back. So I hard restarted..


I then receive the following error:



"We couldn't complete the updates

Undoing changes
Don't turn off your computer
"

This lasts for about two minutes.


The screen then goes blue showing nothing but date and time and nothing else. In bottom right corner I have options to:

1. complete update and restart

2. complete update and shut down

3. set to sleep.


Once restarted, the computer just takes me to same problem again so caught in a loop.






As a solution I have tried the following:


A.) Firstly, I tried to restore the computer to a previous point but after successfully entering my bitlocker key, it tells me I cannot proceed because there is no admin account. My account is the only account on the computer. Should there also be an admin account by default?

B.) Secondly, recover the computer using a USB drive that has windows recovery on it (I used it some days ago for this same computer after an employee locked themselves out). The process starts okay but about 60 seconds in I get a message simply me that "the recovery process has failed".


Any ideas? Computer is under warranty so I may end up just returning it. Using the manufacturers boot menu I have completed hardware tests and all good on that front.


Thank you in advance to anybody who can offer ideas or help. I have to say I'm blown away that windows could be this painful.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder


Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??
