Windows 10: stuck at "getting windows ready" screen while unsuccessfully stoping installation

hi so I was trying to install ni multisim but realised I accidentally unchecked something, so I wanted to stop the installation(it was at 0% for maybe 30 seconds). it didn't want to stop the installation, all the time being at 0%, I didnt know what to do so I restarted my laptop. now its stuck at "getting windows ready", waited for a few minutes then shut it down and powered it back up immediately and again it showed the getting ready screen. now I dont know what to do and I have a project due tuesday. should I do a hard reboot? please help if someone knows

If Windows 10 install gets stuck on the message "Getting Windows ready", it is possible that the internet connection might be running slow. Kindly ensure that your internet connection can suffice the download during the update. The other thing would be a conflict
from external devices. We suggest temporarily disconnect all peripherals aside from mouse and keyboard.

windows update stuck at installation screen and cannot get to desktop

To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

• Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
• For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
• When was the computer last updated?
• Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
provided below:

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.
