    Stuck in install loop


    I'm currently stuck in a bit of a loop when it comes to my PC Windows 10 install. When I boot, I get an "installing Windows" screen. When it gets to 100%, the system reboots and goes through the same procedure.


    I've used the Media Creation Tool to put the install media on a flash drive. Using the Startup Repair tool gives me a screen stating that it couldn't repair my PC and shows a log file: C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt


    I don't have a system restore point, or a system recover image as far as I know.


    Using the command prompt to run bootrec /rebuildbcd shows 0 identified Windows installations. If I run bootrec /fixboot, I get an access denied error, even if I change the partition name and run it from the EFI\Microsoft\Boot directory in the newly named partition.


    Any advice?

    • Have you tried to boot in Safe mode?

    Stuck in a loop after windows performed repair

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Community.

    We understand your concern and we will provide the information required to help you resolve the issue.

    As per the information that you have provided, I suggest that you perform Power Drain as you are stuck in a loop and this might help you access the desktop screen. To learn how to perform this follow the steps below

    • Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power
      cord.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 30sec
    • Plug the charger/power cord and restart system
