Windows 10: Stuck in Windows 10 Home S Mode

New Asus laptop with Windows 10 Home in S Mode

-updated to latest version of Windows version 1903 through Windows Update

-Went to Microsoft Store and went through process of updating Get button opened popups to continue, had to log into Windows Account

-Popups went away - but still shows I am running S mode

- I tried to install Chrome as a test and it gave me prompts to change out of Windows 10 in S mode

- When I return to Windows store, "Get" button is active, but when clicked nothing happens and I am still stuck in Windows S Mode unable to change.


I have tried many of the online support options and nothing seems to work. Seems to me that I'm partially through with Switch, but neither the Store or the Update know that is what is happening.


Please Help. Needed laptop for running Tax software which can't be done in S Mode.

Stuck in safe mode in windows 10

Safe mode is intended to help fix most, if not all problems within an operating system, it's not good if we got stuck on it. To correct this, we suggest that you follow the steps below to exit out of Safe mode:

• Open Run command by pressing Windows key + R
  keys on the keyboard and type msconfig in the command box and press
  Enter.
• Under General tab, put a check on Normal Startup option.
• Reboot the system and check if the changes are effective.

Let us know if you are able to exit out of Safe mode with these steps.

Boot into Safe Mode on Windows 10  


I am stuck in Safe Mode in spite of following all the suggested steps to go back to Normal Startup - Like opening file location of msconfig.exe & running as Administrator. The computer I am trying to get out of safe mode has just been updated from Windows 7.
