Ok, so my timezone is UTC-3, just so you don't get confused.

Yesterday, at around 22:30, I was using my PC when Windows force-restarted it to update (I postponed the update like a billion times so I guess that makes sense.)

The update was taking a lot of time, but I googled it and some people were saying it was a big update and that it lasted around 3 hours, so I didn't think much about it.

At 00:20, the update reached 27%. An hour and a half later, it was still at 27%. This seemed really weird so I googled it, and noticed the first suggestions for "Windows update stuck on" were "27%" and "100%," so I thought it was a common problem.

I opened one of the websites and someone said they restarted it and it worked, so I thought that was a good idea (take a guess... was it?)

When I turned on my PC, it loaded for like 10 seconds and then the "Undoing changes made to your computer" message appeared. I thought it wasn't gonna last long, but it did. Around 30 minutes later, I went to sleep and when I woke up (9 hours later) it was still stuck in that screen.

What do I do now? :/

Window Update Undoing changes made to your computer issue

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, pleas reply with the details requested below:

    • Do you receive any error message after Windows update?
    • May I know after which update do you see this message?
    • When you say, “this message appear about half and hour" does the computer boot to the desktop?
    • What is the make and model of the computer?

If the computer doesn’t boot to the Desktop, I would suggest you to refer the suggestions provided by DaveM121 replied on April 7, 2019 in the thread

    .

If you are able to boot the computer to the Desktop, I would suggest you to run the

    Windows Update Troubleshooter
    and see if that helps.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to reset Windows Update components. Kindly refer the article by Sumit on

Note: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost. Also, the last step in the article
talks about Clean installation, please do not perform a clean installation of Windows.

Let us know the results, we will be glad to help you.

  4. Stuck on "Undoing changes made to your computer" after failed update

Computer Stuck on Update - now stuck on "Computer couldn't complete the updates. undoing changes"

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. My Computer is stuck on Windows 10 update and has now moved to "Computer couldn't complete the updates, undoing changes" and has been for over 24 hours. I have tried to restart the computer in Safe Mode (repeatedly
pressing F8 at startup), but it still reverts back to the same screen.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron desktop.

    Thanks in advance.
