Stumped - Apple Mobile Device Driver does not show up in Windows 10

    All,

Been battling a very odd problem in Win 10 today and thought I would lay it out for the crew in here for some ideas.

Using Windows 10 1809 and the latest version of iTunes. I usually only use iTunes to perform hardware/iOS upgrade for my iPhone and iPad.

With iPadOS13 now available - I figured I would fire it up and get the new update - but as soon as I fired up iTunes and plugged in my iPad - I see a quick message about "allowing" photos and videos to be accessible by the PC - and I press Allow and then I expect to see the usual device icon appear in iTunes so I can get going on the upgrade.

Except this time - no device icon. So I start checking the usual suspects. Run diagnostics in iTunes. That tells me this:

So I click Help to get sent out to the Apple website where I see a series of help articles - I walk thru the one for Windows 10...Device Manager->Portable Devices->iPad. I right click as instructed and choose Update Driver. Which gives me this:

I choose Browse My Computer...and point right to the folder where every other article on the entire Internet says that the drivers should be:

I click Next and I get this...

Then I go right into the directory and try to do a hard install by right clicking on the inf file - and I get this:

WTF? What other files could it need and where do I get them from?

I took a quick look thru the actual inf and looks like all the files it needs are there.

    What am I missing here?

    Sonic.

    :)

    Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

Right-click the Apple Mobile Device entry in Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus controllers and choose Update Driver Software.

    • Select "Browse my computer for driver software."

    • Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."

    • Click the Have Disk button. Note: If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and then click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.

    • Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.

    • Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    instead).

    • Click Open in the Have Disk window. Then, click Next and then Click Finish. Windows will install the driver.

If this doesn't work then I'm sorry but the device may be to old to work with Windows 10.

Windows 10 PC not recognizing Iphone, but also not showing Apple Mobile Device Driver

    Hello,

I have a windows 10 desktop, and a couple of weeks ago, it stopped recognizing my Iphone -- both Windows Explorer and ITunes. I already did the latest Windows updates and uninstalled/ re-installed Itunes. I already checked the Apple cable and phone on
another Windows 10 PC, and it worked fine (i.e., the phone shows up in both Itunes and Explorer). I checked that this USB drive works for other types of devices. I have restarted the PC between each of those steps as well. As well, I restarted the phone.
I have temporarily disabled my antivirus software before installing Itunes. No luck -- the phone is still not recognized on this PC.

A few key observations, after having tried a few things from other posts:

    1. Under Device Manager, Apple Mobile Device Service does NOT appear and nor does "Portable Devices" show
    up.

    2. Under the RUN command, I tried searching for %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers -- and
    it was not listed. I

    3. Whenever connecting the phone to the computer, the iphone does not prompt me to "trust the computer"

Please advise how to proceed to get my PC to recognize my Iphone via the USB cable...

    Thanks!
