    Stutter every two seconds


    My computer sometimes starts to--every two seconds--stutter for like a split second no matter what I'm doing. This is the entire desktop and it goes right over into making videos and games stutter like that, making things unplayable and videos a headache to watch.

    This seems to happen after moving the computer slightly. It used to occur without fail when plugging in my speakers to the sound card and it was fixed by turning off the computer--unplugging and plugging back in the GPU. That fix hasn't worked the past few times and it's just--eventually fixed itself.

    I'd like to know how to actually fix this and stop it from happening. Brand new computer with all new parts inside.

    Stuttering Every Two Seconds

    Every two seconds I get a stutter, the mouse freezes and then jumps forward. Audio stutters, games stutter, everything stutters very briefly (on the order of milliseconds) every two seconds.

    This happens every two seconds like clock work. It happens on windows, it happens in browsers, it happens in games.

    I've tried updating all the drivers I can find. I've tried a System restore to last month even though the problem just started today. I've tried closing out of programs and disabling various tasks.

    I've tried various checks and all come back clean:

    • sfc /scannow
    • DISM.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    • CHKDSK /f

    Please help!

    Stuttering Every Two Seconds

    1) I already am an Administrator Account on my Windows 10. Can you provide more details about why this would be a root cause of my system stuttering every 2 seconds?

    2) What is the justification for reinstalling Windows? That seems like a blanket approach rather than a specific fix. Can you give background on why reinstalling Windows will likely fix my problem?

    Are there any specific diagnostic items I can execute to better hone in on my specific problem?

    I'll also add that this issue resolved itself and worked fine for the last 3 weeks but has now started again today. I have not done anything new in the last week that would cause the issue to resume.

    Stutter every two seconds

    Sounds like you have some drivers that are outdated. Don't just let Windows 10 pick your drivers. The first one I would replace would be uninstall the Video driver and go to the manufacturers website and download and install the newest driver.

    Uninstalled the NVIDIA driver and things were running without any stuttering whatsoever. Then grabbed the latest driver and installed it and now the stuttering has returned.
