Windows 10: Sudden Streaming Video and Audio issues

Hello,

I have this sudden issue where any streaming audio or video will play for a few minutes then stop. With Spotify, it will play for a song then the audio will cease playback, the bar will continue for a few seconds, then stop and say "cannot play current song". On Youtube and Vimeo I will get through a video or two with no problems then it will stop, get the buffering wheel and then refuse to play anything. Both these happen around the same time. A full restart solves this but only for a short time then this issue reappears. Everything was fine for ~1-2 years then this happened.


I had this same issue around 1-2 years ago on windows 7 before the 10 update where everything streamed fine and then this same issue happened. The only thing I was able to do was a full windows wipe/reset. I tried multiple browsers Firefox and chrome, same thing. Disabled hardware acceleration, same thing. Cleared cache and history, updated video drivers same thing. Turned off all power saving settings, same thing. CPU/ mem load is low. My hunch is that there is some update that is triggering this because It doesnt seem app specific. Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know of some update that causes streaming interruptions or knows of any troubleshooting tools?

Cannot stream videos or music on new ver 1709

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we can identify why you are having issues streaming:

• What happens when you stream a video on websites like YouTube?
• Is there an error message when you try to steam a video or music?

Please post a screenshot so that we can assess the issue better.

In the meantime, let us try to isolate the issue by performing these troubleshooting steps:

Method 1: Run the Playing Audio and Video Playback troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Playing Audio and Video Playback.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

If the issue persists then follow the below method.

Method 2:We suggest you to update the Display adapters driver from the Device Manager and check if it works.

Follow the below steps:

1. Press Windows + R on the Keyboard.

2. Type in devmgmt.msc and click on Ok.

3. Select the Graphic driver from the list by extending Display adapters.

4. Right click on the Graphic driver and click on Update driver Software.

Double Audio Feed while streaming live video on Microsoft Edge

Method 1:

I suggest you to reset the settings on the Microsoft Edge web browser to check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Steps to Reset Edge:-

1.
First of all launch Microsoft Edge Browser.

2.
After that click on “More action” option which is visible at top right side of the browser and you will see “Settings” option.

3.
Under “Settings” scroll down and you will see a button “Choose what to clear” under “Clear browsing data” option.

4.
Once you click on this option you will see list of feature like

• Browsing History
• Cookies and saved website data
• Cached data and file
• Download history
• Form data
• Password.

Method 2: Run the Audio Troubleshooter on the system

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio

1. Press
Windows key +X, select Control panel.

2. Change the
view by option on the top right to Large icons.

3. Click on
troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel

4. Run the
playing Audio troubleshooter
