Windows 10: Surface bitlocker

The battery on my surface pro went flat, and when I restarted it, the bitlocker screen came up. I see that you have to retrieve the key from the Microsoft account.


When I signed in, I need to receive a verification code. However, my only option was an old email account that I no longer have access to. I updated this email address, but now have to wait 30 days for it to be updated?


Do I seriously now just have an expensive paperweight for 30 days?! Is there another way to access my computer? I don't think my boss will let me not work for the next 30 days....

Need to turn off Bitlocker to install Windows 10

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.

• Press the Windows key.
• Type and enter BitLocker.
• Click Turn on BitLocker.
