Windows 10: Surface Book 1: UPD email required with installation of Windows 10

I reinstalled Windows 10 on my Surface Book 1 but when I go through the installation progress I need to login with an UPD account. What is this? Can I turn this off? I have a regular(?) name@outlook.com account and I can login with that account. If I try I'll get the following message:

"We didn't find that email address in your organization. Use another email address or contact your administrator"

I used the data eraser tool before I started the installation so the drive is completely empty. New partitions were made.

Going through the installation progress without an internet connection allows me to login in on a local account but I just want to get rid of this UPD thing and login with my own regular Microsoft account.

Updates for Surface Pro and Surface Book - Feb. 13

We've released new driver and firmware updates for Surface Pro (Model 1796), Surface Pro with LTE Advanced (Model 1807) and Surface Book devices with Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) or above. On Surface Pro and Surface Pro with LTE Advanced devices these updates include new Surface System Aggregator firmware. On Surface Book devices these updates include new drivers for Surface Integration and Surface Embedded Controller Firmware.These updates improve system stability and on Surface Book devices provide improved battery reliability.

These updates are available currently via Windows Update only and will be announced separately when made available from the Microsoft Download Center.

Surface Pro (Model 1796):

Surface System Aggregator Firmware (v233.2099.256.0) improves system stability.

Surface Pro with LTE Advanced (Model 1807):

Surface System Aggregator Firmware (v233.2102.1.0) improves system stability.

Surface Book:

Surface Embedded Controller Firmware (v90.2098.256.0) improves system stability.

Surface Integration (v1.1.339.1) improves battery reliability.

Updates for Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 April 24th 2017

Today we’ve released updated drivers for Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10 Creators Update. These include new driver updates for Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller, Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED, and Realtek High Definition Audio(SST) on Surface Book, and Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller, and Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED on Surface Pro 4. These updates improve video playback on installed apps while offline.

For Surface Book, the updates are available in MSI and ZIP format from the Surface Book Drivers and Firmware Page in the Microsoft Download Center. Click Download to download the following files:

Note: The drivers in these releases are applicable only to Windows 10 Creators Update. As such, on the download pages you will notice that there are two ZIP files and two MSI for Windows 10. Each of these files includes in the name a Windows 10 build number indicating the minimum supported build required to install the drivers and firmware contained within. For example, to install the drivers contained in SurfaceBook_Win10_15063_1702000_0.msi you must have Windows 10 Creators Update (Version 1703) or newer installed on your Surface Book device. You can find a list of the build numbers for each version of Windows 10 in Windows 10 release information. Files that do not contain a build number in their name are applicable to all versions of Windows 10.

For your reference, here is a full list of the driver versions that are updated in this release and the improvements they provide:
