    Surface Book 2: Wireless adapter not working


    I have a Surface Book 2 that no longer connects to Wifi. Here's what I'm dealing with:


    I do not have a WiFi icon, it is a globe and when I select it no networks show up. I am posting this from another laptop connected to WiFi, so I know WiFi is on, available and working. Additionally, 21 WiFi networks show up on the device I'm using now.


    When I run the troubleshooter on the WiFi adapter it gives me this message:

    "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter"

    I select "Try These Repairs" as an administrator, I get the following message:

    "There might be a problem with the driver for the WiFi adapter - Not Fixed"

    Detailed Information:

    The wireless network adapter is experiencing problems - Failed

    Set up the wireless network adapter - Completed

    There Might be a problem with the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter - Not Fixed

    Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter


    I've tried a number of different solutions I found around the web, including on Microsoft forums:

    I have restarted the computer multiple times.

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver while on a wired connection.

    I have searched for an update to the driver while on a wired connection - The best driver for your device is already installed

    I have tried a number of ipconfig and netsh commands to reset ip and dns settings and other network things I don't understand.

    I've tried restarting a number of different network services.


    Nothing I've tried is fixing this problem and I'm hoping someone at Microsoft can give me a solution. About three weeks ago I had a problem with the wireless network connection being extremely slow that I was able to fix I don't remember what I did but I'm fairly certain it involved restarting some network services and some ipconfig flushing. After I applied the most recent windows update, wifi has stopped working completely.
