Windows 10: Surface Go Brightness won't adjust

I notice a few of these posts from last year but do not see any answers. I have a surface go and the brightness controls do nothing. I notice when this occurs if I restart the go it wont restart either it just sits there saying restarting until I force restart the device.




Upon restart the brightness controls work for a while but after a while no more control.


I have posted this as there was recet firmware updates but its made no difference.


Is there are solution? If not am I able to return the device as it does not function on the basic level, pretty as it is.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Were you able to see any error message/ error code with this issue?
• Have you tried to install all the pending updates for drivers and Windows Updates on your device?

This issue might have happened due to corrupted/ outdated drivers.

I suggest you to refer to the below Microsoft article, try the troubleshooting steps suggested to change the brightness and check if it helps.

Adjust brightness settings in Windows 10

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Type Settings in the Search bar and then Enter.
• Click on the System and then Notifications and Actions which is available on the Left pane.
• Click on Add or Remove quick Actions.
• In the make sure that the Brightness is ON.
• Then click on the Action Center and adjust the Brightness according to your preference.

To adjust the brightness, see the steps below:

• Go back to Power Options, and tick on the High performance.
• See if you can adjust the brightness.

If this not work, we highly suggest that you create an Administrator account, and re-do the steps above.
