Windows 10: Surface Laptop 3 : Hard Drive Upgrade

TLDR: any surface 3 hard drive solutions if too tiny.

Has anyone tried an external on the surface 3?
LAPTOP, not the tablet.

because I have some complaints about the size of the hard drive as it's not the default TB that you'll find to be most common on systems nowadays.
like its the default size.

only one game from the steam store can be installed on it before you pretty much run out of space.


and i thought about an external but im not sure if you can install and boot up an .exe from it ? Like steam? while the OS runs on the machines HD?

or would I need to boot up windows from the new hard drive and that would NOW be my new hard drive if i decide to go that route?

Laptop hard drive upgrade

To replace a hard drive on a laptop is a little more troublesome than a desktop. 1st as most people here suggest you will need some sort of a backup disk just in case. Also be sure when buying the new Hard Disk is compatible with your model. And i would strongly suggest you install a new system and start from scratch because there are far too many problems that can occur when transferring system files.

 

Surface Laptop 3 with external monitor

Hi All,

Has anyone come across an issue with an external monitor blacking out while connected to a Surface Laptop 3? I have the laptop connected to a widescreen laptop with the Surface Dock. Both work fine however, once every hour or so the external monitor blacks out and comes back.

I've completed the following:

• Updated laptop drivers and firmware
  • Updated monitor drivers
  • Swapped out monitor
