Windows 10: Surface Pro 3 Cursor Disappears

This problem seems to be endemic. I keep thinking that each update will fix it, but it seems to be getting worse. My surface pro 3 now has a surface pro 4 type cover and I thought that would solve the problem but it hasn't. I don't use a mouse and use the touch pad exclusively. I have Windows 10 version 1809 with three 1809.01 updates installed. However the problem existed before 1809 and has probably gotten worse since. Yesterday and today, I've been trying to consolidate some photo files and am using multi file copy, move and delete. Typically, within an hour of starting work the cursor will disappear which makes it impossible for me to do anything that doesn't interrupt the file operation in progress. The touch screen works fine but I can't do things like right-click, double-click, control or shift click. Of course, restarting fixes the problem but leaves me with a mess. Also if I go away for a while the cursor will remain. For now I've given up on the file consolidation until this is worked out.

Surface Pro 3/Windows 10 cursor problem

I have a strange problem that just recently started to occur on my Surface Pro 3 (Windows 10). I think it started after an update put out in November.

If I'm navigating between open windows (using Alt+tab), if the cursor is not already positioned where the window is that I want to navigate to, it doesn't navigate to that window.

Also, if I click on a shortcut icon on the taskbar, as soon as I move the cursor to select something on the list for that shortcut, the list disappears.

I hope this makes sense! Very hard to explain in words. Any help is appreciated

Could you please help me with the below information:

1. Does the battery drain out, if the tablet is not connected to peripherals?
   
   
2. Which version of Windows you are using? (To check, type: winver in start menu and hit enter.)
   

I understand how something like this can try your patience. This issue is an indication of faulty drivers or incompatible driver.
However, I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Check the drivers.

Step1: Battery driver

1. Press Windows andR
   key together on your Keyboard.
2. Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
   
3. Click on view on top > Select Show hidden devices.
   
4. Expand the Batteries option from the list.
   
5. Select the ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery> right click on the driver and click on
   Properties.
6. Click on Driver tab > check if you have the option to
   Roll Back Driver.
7. If yes, Roll back the driver or uninstall it and restart the computer.
   

Uninstalling the driver will be automatically installed after the system is restarted. Check if the issue is fixed.

Step 2: Keyboard driver.

1. In the Device manager, go to ‘Other devices’, you will find
   Unknown devices.
   
2. Double tap on the unknown device > click on
   Driver tab> click on update driver.
   
3. Select browse my computer for driver software> Click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers
   
4. Select keyboard, then click ‘Next’.
   
5. Select HID Keyboard device and click finish.
   

Method 2: Run the toolkit.

Surface Pro 3 - Erratic cursor and window behaviour

I experience intermittent erratic cursor behaviour on my Surface Pro 3. Any open windows also reduce in size and expand again. I keep the computer updated and have switched locations to avoid any external interference.

I've read various reports on Touchscreen drives and updates etc but nothing seems to cure this erratic behaviour. Any suggestions?
