Windows 10: Surface Pro 4 goes to sleep mode even when Sleep is OFF

So i just got my Surface Pro 4 replaced under warranty.


I take my replacement out of the box, excited to finally have it back. (It had been broken for a couple of months before I realised it was still under warranty.)


So as I boot it up, get through the setup, and start using it... The screen turns off. I check the power cord is still connected... Yes. So I go to settings and turn off the sleep and screen off settings.


It continues to happen every few seconds while I do this. I unplug the power cord and it still does it. I Google to see if anyone's found a fix. I check the power button does not seem loose and then I pour myself a drink of pure scotch. Yes, the screensaver is off.


I go through the settings with a fine tooth comb trying to find anything that could possibly fix it, taking a drink every time I have to turn the screen back on. I'm now quite drunk and the bottle is empty, and it seems this is a known issue with the new update only other people at least only having it happening when not actively using it. I quit.


Needless to say, it makes the fact that my surface keyboard is not responding seem like a minor annoyance.

Hi, thank you. I could restart my surface pro 4 but still could not fix the Surface Pro 4 screen not turn on after sleep. I am still looking forward to hearing more suggestions to fix the black screen after sleep.

 

How can i listen to music while Surface Pro 4 is sleeping?

Sleep is a power-saving state that allows a computer to quickly resume full-power operation (typically within several seconds) when you want to start working again. Putting your computer into the sleep state is like pausing a DVD player—the
computer immediately stops what it’s doing and is ready to start again when you want to resume working. In Sleep Mode you cannot listen to music.

Step 1: You may try the option turn off the display in power options, to turn off the display and listen to music.

To choose when Windows turns off the display:

• Type Power options in the search box on the task bar, and select the same
• On the Select a power plan page, in the task pane, click
  Choose when to turn off the display.
• On the Change settings for the plan page, next to Turn off the display, choose the display and sleep settings that you want to use.
• Click Save changes.
