Windows 10: Surface Pro 4 stuck at Windows 10 Version 1511 updates fail with error 0x8024401c

I have updated the surface to latest drivers and firmware. I was able to get some 1511 updates but now it either says that there are no updates or it fails with error 0x8024401c. The user needs to be on at least version 1703 to install new software. Is there a way to manually get the updates?

Windows 10 update error 0x8024401c

EugenioDiel, I also had trouble with my Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10. After a cleaninstall of build 10240 I ran into activation problems. Windows 10 wouldn't recognize my SP3-key as a valid Windows key. The November update (build
10586) fixed that problem. However, it screwed up the ability to run Windows updates (even in the current version: build 10586.14). Trying to search for updates always returned the error code "0x8024401c". None of the suggestions in
this thread (Windows update troubleshooter, reinstalling network adapter, etc.) worked for me, so I had to keep on digging and found a
solution:

1. Press Windows button. Search for regedit. Open it

2. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\mrvlpcie8897


3. Find the item labeled “TXAMSDU”. Double tap and modify the value from 1 to 0
4. Restart the machine

After applying the steps above Windows Update is working again. It seems to be an issue of the poorly Threshold 2 Update combined with the Marvell Wifi adapter and a number of access points.

In my case:

Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 (Build 10586.14), Surface Pro 3

Marvell Network Driver: 15.68.9032.47, dated 09/18/2015

Details for the router:

AVM Fritz!Box 7390 (Supplied by German ISP and also available as a retail version), Firmware 06.30

I hope this post is helpful to other people having similar issues. Took me quite a few hours of "research" to find the solution. Let's see what the next update will break. Microsoft should've employed more beta testers. The current situation on Windows 10
is more than frustrating.

 

Windows 10 update error: 0x8024401c error

Hello everyone,

I just bought a new surface pro 4 on the MS shop. At first I had trouble activating Windows but after a clean restore this problem was resolved. Since then however Windows update had trouble installing new updates, showed the error 0x8024401c and the Windows
update diagnostic tool indicated a "registry files are missing or corrupt". After following the various steps in here, and finally the last one, the error status changed as 0x80240442. Since this is the only place I found people managing to solve their problem
related to WU I decided to ask for help here as well. Any idea what I can do to remedy this? Thanks in advance.

Update: after rebooting my device, the error stated once again 0x8024401c. Even with iPv6 unchecked.
