Surface Pro 6 and ultrawide montior 3440x1440 - can't get resolution to work

I have a Surface Pro 6 and a Samsung Ultrawide 34" monitor. The highest the resolution on the surface pro settings is 1920x1080 - not ultrawide.

There is no driver update for the graphics card Intel R UHD Graphics 620.

    WHY?

    :)

Connecting an ultrawide (3440x1440) screen to a laptop

    Hi,

There is a topic about this (Not Able To Change Resolution to 3440x1440 in Windows 10???)
but is already four years old and now so many years later I seem to run into the same problem and I'm not able to solve this.

The laptop has an Intel Intel® UHD Graphics 620 adapter, as well as NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX
    1650 Max-Q.

I've just renewed my laptop (now Intel i7, USB-C port and HDMI 2,0) and also bought an ultrawide monitor with a resolution of 3440x1440 px (IIlama).

When connecting these via HDMI there is no way I can get the right resolution set, the max is now 2560x1440, which of course results in a strangely streched screen layout.

I would suspect that there must be an easy way to solve this, given the fact that bot the laptop and the monitor are totaly new.

But I can't find it :-( So hopefully there is some help here.

  3. Force (correct) ultrawide resolution on Monitor

I have an LG Ultrawide monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1080, now paired with a Surface Pro 6 (SP6) running Windows 10 Pro x64 (I upgraded). I am using a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter for display, via the Surface Pro 3 Dock.

    The problem:

Originally the SP6 did not detect the monitor's brand and read it as "General PnP". After manually installing the driver from LG's website and the updating it via Windows, it is now recognized as "LG Ultrawide".

My Surface Pro 3, which was sold last year, worked fine with this setup.

    More random things:

    1. The same happened fresh out of the box with Windows 10 Home.
    2. I am up to date with Windows 10 Pro.
    3. I have tried the MiniDP on both the SP3 dock and machine.
    4. Intel's website says I need to update my UHD 620 Graphics. Windows says it's up to date. Trying to install it anyway gives an error to the effect of "This is not for your machine".

    Thoughts...

    • It could be my adapter. But it worked fine for my SP3.
    • My Thinkpad Yoga L380 works fine via HDMI, so likely the problem is not the monitor.

    My Question:
