Windows 10: Surround system balance resets when volume is turned down to zero

I want my surround system to give louder sound from rear speakers so I set a balance like this; rear speaker 100% and all the others 75%. So the rear speakers sound 25% louder, I think the OS keeps this info. But whenever I set my volume to 0, I lose my balance. I think it's because 25% of 0 is 0. This problem consists of years, could you please fix this? Or do I have another way to set a permanent balance?Example video is below. I can set the balance on my speakers in Windows 10 using the Speaker Properties window but even after clicking
apply if I turn the volume all the way down to zero and then back up to normal listening levels
the balance goes back to default.

How can I set the balance permanently ??

 

Surround Sound - Balance Issues

Hello-

I'm having a very annoying issue with my sound. I'm on Windows 10, up to date, set up for 7.1 surround sound through a GTX1080 through HDMI to an AV Reciever. Works fine initially, but if I change the volume one speaker gets stuck. Looking at it in the speaker
balance window, I can go from 100% volume to 50%, but speaker 7 (always speaker 7) will stay at 100. Changing volume again, and it stays stuck. If I try to manually adjust it works, but testing it shows that it reverts to 100. Sometimes I'll click into the
balance window and everything will show up as DB for some reason - with speaker 7 stuck to 0.0 DB and every other speaker changing depending on where I set the volume.

Tried different cables, reinstalling graphics drivers, completely removing all graphics drivers, but the problem persists. Needless to say it's very annoying - as the only way to change volume is from my reciever.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

I think you may be overlooking the point of the issue, which is that Windows 10 does not persist volume balance adjustments. When the system reboots balance levels for sound devices are reset to equal volume in left and right channels,
which is really inconvenient for users who need to correct for speaker placement asymmetry.
