    Suspicion of a spyware alert

I got a spyware alert from Microsoft whilst using my Chromebook and was told not to shut my computer down or my computer can be crushed or my identity can be stolen. So I called the number that o was asked to to call and someone picked it up. He asked for my name, age, whether I’m a student or not and whether I have a bank account which I replied No because I don’t have one yet. But the call wasn’t going through anymore so I called again and another Microsoft worker picked and directed me to press and hold on escape, close the window and reboot my Chromebook. Later coming back to my senses , I

    Anti virus, Trojan's and Spyware.

Hmmm, I use AVG Email Server Antivirus, Zonealarm Pro, and many many spyware programs... The best one being BPS Anti-Spyware. Ad-aware SE is just garbage now, but if you want spyware protection with out nothing running i suggest using Spyware Blaster. Heres a list of great programs that i use and i think are some are the best. Pest Patrol, Spyware Doctor, Spybot, Bazooka, Spyware Blaster, and BPS Anti-Spyware. Those are really great anti-spyware programs. Oh and the new Zonealarm Pro I dont like at all becuase it alerts you about everything even if you turn alerts off so i use version 6.0.667.000 which is one of the best newer ones.

That's a fake alert/warning pop up, usually with a phone number to call. It's a so called Tech Support Scam.

It does not necessarily mean that your computer is infected and those pop ups are in general easy to close.

What really helps is the use of a good browser together with a good advertisment etc blocker and a good Anti-Virus program.

Personally I use Firefox, uBlock Origin, Emsisoft Anti-Malware.

    Spyware alert

I was browsing the internet when I attempted to open an new tab add a new site. A alert came up saying that my computer was infected with Spyware and asked me to call a number 844-395-6252 so I could get the necessary steps to remove the spyware.

I assumed it was a scam when I called the number and I did not receive the usual "this phone call is being recorded for training purposes" and when I announced to the person that I had immediately disconnect from the internet she didn't say anything. She
then asked me to take action by using the "run" with iex , that's when I didn't let her finish and stopped her. When I questioned her how could I guarantee she was a Microsoft employee she toldme to google her name. So I assumed it was a scam and hung up
    immediately and closed the windows.

I ran the security software and nothing was dictated. I also deleted all my temporary files just in case. ran a disc clean up. My question if my computer is infected would the Microsoft security software show any virus or malware or spyware?

    thank you.
