I've had a rather suspicious program in my startup settings for three days now, it keeps changing names from something including -silent, to just random characters.

This is the only instance of it, it doesn't appear anywhere else, including task manager and virus scanners don't detect it. Nothing odd has been done to my computer since I turned it off in startup programs.

Anyone know what this is and how to remove it?

    :)

  2. My pc takes for ever to shut down when i restart

Suggest cleaning up your startup list .There may be many services / Apps you can remove on startup which is not needed on boot or during shutdown.
Before you shutdown the Pc check what is running in Task Manager as a program or service in not killing the process on shutdown

Would suggest cleaning up running apps and services -Autoruns, StartupMonitor,HighjackThis,
    Malware Scan - Malwarebytes,ADWcleaner, Combofix

  3. about Task manager

I have a question about the startup tab in the Task Manager. I downloaded the Autoruns program which is also a product of Microsoft. After running the program I Compared the list of startup programs provided by Autoruns and The list provided by my Task
Manager. Why is it that in order for me to find out what is really running on my computer at startup I needed to download a program that is also a product of windows? Autoruns is showing me that a lot more programs are running at start up then what Task manager
is showing me. Can anyone explain why this is? Just curious.

I can`t use AtiTool-settings under XP Home Edition @ startup. Only on an admin-account it works :/. Is there a possibility to make it run under every other account? (to copy the autorun entry in the autorun list of an user doesn`t work)
