Windows 10: Switching from Win 10 S mode.

I am having what seems to be a very universal problem. Just bought a new HP Laptop last week that had Win 10 S mode installed. I use it for church activities and we had a big event coming up this past weekend, so I needed to install apps that weren't available through the MS store. On first attempt to do this, I encountered the S mode switch message and went through the process to do the switch. It seemed to work as I was able to download, install and test the needed apps. The next day when I started up the laptop and tried to use the apps, I got the S mode switch message. When I tried doing the switch, I got the now infamous "Something went wrong. Try again later" message, which I did numerous times. I researched the issue and tried the fixes that were suggested, to no avail. I even paid the $99 to upgrade to Win10 Pro. After I did the upgrade and restarted the laptop, you guessed it, it came up in Win 10 Pro S and I had the same issue when trying to switch. The only difference is the resulting message, "working on it". I think not! The laptop will just sit there in that state indefinitely until I get out of the Store app or shutdown. I gave up on trying to correct the issue and had to resort to using the old laptop that was going be replaced. What makes this more frustrating is that I'm not a casual home user and have years of IT experience but can't do what seems like a simple thing to do. I don't expect to get real answers to correct the issue nor any statement from Microsoft regarding this issue, as it seems to have been around for a while. Consider this a rant from another long time but very unhappy Microsoft customer.

Airplane mode switch not working

Since the troubleshooting steps that were provided did not resolve the issue, we suggest switching on the Radio Management Service. To do that, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type services.msc, then hit Enter.
• Search for Radio Management Service.
  
• Right-click, then choose Start.

Note: Never ever set this service to "Disabled".

Get back to us if the steps won't work.

 

Switching out of S Mode

I am having trouble switching my laptop out of S Mode. I went through the steps that are listed, and the Windows Store is updated and it won't let me click Get when you go to the screen to switch out of S mode.

Fix problems switching Windows modes in Microsoft Store and try performing troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article and check if it resolves the issue.
