Windows 10: System 32 got corrupted. Got it fixed. Now Windows Hello is not available ANYMORE.

Hello, I would like to ask something.


So, my laptop auto-updated on January 13. I just left it open while it charged, waiting for the update to finish. After some time, the update finished. But then, when I opened it, it said that System 32 is missing from my laptop. I asked some friends about it, and they said that it's some sort of booting files? They asked me if I deleted it, I said no. One of them made me search of it on my laptop (I pressed windows key + r and then browsed) to check System 32. And it's still there, and they said it got corrupted or something. Now, I had my laptop fixed, but the guy installed Windows x32 bit instead of x64 so I brought it back to him.


Now, I can download the apps I need freely. But, as I was trying to set up my finger print (I had it before all the **** went down on 13th), it says that Windows Hello is not available/compatible with my device? What happened? I can use it freely before my System 32 got corrupted by the update. Can someone tell me how to get it back so that I can sign it my finger print again? I really need some help. I'm scared to update my laptop, fearing that the same thing will happen again.

Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

 

Windows Hello Not Available

Hi,

Windows Hello allows you to login into your system by recognizing your fingerprint or your face or your iris rather than using a pin code or a password, provided that you have a webcam and a finger scanner that work.

If you’re having “Windows Hello isn’t available on this device.” in your Settings windows. We suggest to run through the settings of the sign-in options. To do this, kindly follow the steps provided below:

Step 1: Update Your PC

First of all, make sure that you’ve installed any possible update that is available for Windows 10. See if you have needed patches installed:

• On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and I at the same time. Click Update & security.
  
• Click the Check for updates button. Install available updates found.
  
  When you finish, move on to the second step.

Step 2: Enable Biometric from Administration

If you don’t have the administrator permission, you’re not likely to use Windows Hello on your PC. To fix it:

• On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time, then type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
  
• Follow the path: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components. On the right side of the pane, double-click Allow the use of biometrics.
• Click Enabled. Then click Apply and OK to save the change.
  
• Reboot your computer and then move on to the next step.

Step 3: Update Your Fingerprint Device Driver

If your fingerprint device driver is outdated or faulty, you’ll find the hardware impossible to use. You can update the device driver to fix it.

• On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and X at the same time, and click Device Manager.
  
• Click the icon for Scan for hardware changes on the top bar.
  
• Expand Biometric devices. Right-click the fingerprint sensor device that you have and click Uninstall.
  
• You can choose to reboot your computer for Windows to help you locate the driver that it could find for your device. Or, as an alternative, you can choose to update the driver by yourself.

Corrupt file - Can't fix. [Fixed]

Before proceeding, please check if the same issue occur when logged in through a different user account.

Please perform the below steps and see if it helps to resolve the issue.

This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow
the below given steps:

• Press Windows key + X, select
  Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.
• In Command prompt type sfc/scannow and press enter.
• Restart the computer.

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

• Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
• In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

• Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.
