Windows 10: "System" Data Usage

I have discovered that when I checked my data usage for the past month, "System" has used a shocking amount of data at 567 GB in the past 30 days. This seems way too ridiculous for this much data to be coming from "System." How am I able to see what is causing this preposterous amount of data usage and fix this issue? I have set my connection to metered already, but feel that it is not doing much.

We appreciate the additional information. Windows update is one of the possible cause why the system data usage is high. If you prefer to disable automatic updates to avoid high data usage, follow the steps below:

• Type gpedit.msc in the search bar, then press Enter
  to open Local Group Policy Editor.
  
• Browse the following path:
  
  • Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update
    
• Locate Configure Automatic Updates, then double-click it.
  
• Check the Enabled option to enable the policy.
  
• Under Options, change it to option 2 (Notify for download and notify for install).
  
• Click Apply, then OK.

How to stop or control data usage by system



Many of the window phone users facing the problem with their phone uses data even when all the apps closed.And this data usage is listed under SYSTEM in windows data scene monitor. You can see this by opening Data sense in your windows phone .In the above
screenshot system uses 25 MB of mobile data and 91 MB of wifi data.Here the system uses your data for creating Backup and Uploading files(photos,videos etc into OneDrive)

To control the data usage by system just follow fhe following steps

1.open ALL SETTINGS

2.click on Update +Backup

3.click on backup

4.turn off backup of apps and text messages if you not need

5.click on photos +videos

6.select Best quality (need wifi)

. Now your system only use wifi connection for uploading of photos and videos to SkyDrive.And system no longer use your mobile data.

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps to check which application is using Data.

• 
  Open the Settings app, and click/tap on the
  Network & Internet icon.
  
• 
  Click/tap on Data usage on the left side. You will now see a general overview of the network data usage from the last 30 days on your PC.
  
• 
  Click/tap on the Usage details link on the right side under
  Overview.
  
• 
  You will now see how much network data has been used by each app from the last 30 days.
  

After that go to task manager and End Task the Application which uses the internet.

• 
  Press ctrl +shift +Esc to open Task manger.
