winxp pro explorer cd or dvd label

windows explorer doesn't correctly display the title/label of either cds or dvds , sometimes a previous label is displayed regardless of file content, but mostly no label is displayed. The contaents are displayed ok.
the following method will display the label correctly but does not alter win explorer display:
right click on drive, select properties, select hardware, double click on appropriate drive then click on volumes, then click on populate. This method obviously proves that the information can be read by my system but I do not understand the explorer problem - any thoughts are wellcome please ?

    win xp sp2
    optorite drive dvd rw dd0203

I've since resolved the problem by selecting autoplay for the cd/dvd drive, not ideal becauase I do not want to use the autoplay feature , but at least it solved the label problem

  3. File Explorer- no drive letters are listed.

The File Explorer in Windows 10, shows the Frequent folders list and Recent files list by default. You can view the drives by clicking on This PC tab on the left site of the File Explorer. But if you wish the File Explorer
to open This PC showing drives list by default, then follow these steps:

    1. In Windows 10, open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.

    2. In the View tab, find and click on Options, listed by default on the far right side of the ribbon.

    3. In the Folder Options window, make sure you’re on the General tab and then find the drop-down box labeled Open File Explorer To. Click the drop-down menu and select This PC. Click OK to
save your changes and close the window. Now your File Explorer opens to Drives list by default.

    Hope this helps!

  4. System Drive is being labeled in File Explorer?

    Mismatched drive labels in windows.

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the labeling or identification of your Samsung 980 PRO drives in Windows 11. There are a few potential causes for this issue, including incorrect driver installation, driver conflicts, or a hardware issue.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the device manager: Open the Device Manager in Windows 11, and expand the "Disk drives" category. Check to see if both Samsung 980 PRO drives are listed, and whether they are correctly labeled. If they are not listed or incorrectly labeled, try updating or reinstalling the driver for the drives.

Check the BIOS: Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup. Check to see if both drives are detected by the BIOS and whether their labels are correct. If they are not detected or labeled correctly in the BIOS, it may indicate a hardware issue.

Reinstall Windows: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to reinstall Windows 11. During the installation process, make sure to select the correct drive to install Windows onto, and ensure that both drives are properly detected and labeled.

If you continue to experience issues with mislabeled drives, you may want to contact Samsung support

    Regards.
