Windows 10: System restore failure windows 10 error 0x80071160

    System restore failure windows 10 error 0x80071160


    I want to restore my system on my computer that is running windows 10, but it comes back saying it failed with the error 0x80071160.

    I've tried different times to restore the system to, but none work.


    Does anyone has an idea how to fix this?

    Failure to restore system using a system restore point

    Hi Alpe,

    There are several ways to perform a system restore, such as through Control Panel, using a recovery drive, or using an installation media. For us to add clarification, we would like to know the following:

    Windows XP PRO error after restore

    System restore is handy when it works like it did for me 2 days ago saving the need to reinstall all of my software as well as windows, id suggest using norton Ghost 12 for an excellent system restore feature.

    Windows 10 system restore failure

    I accidentally deleted a big folder with a lot of my files in it and I am trying to restore to a point where it wasn't deleted which is last Saturday. But i get this error:

    System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and

    settings were not changed.

    Details:

    System Restore failed while restoring the directory from the restore point.

    Source:    %ProgramFiles%\WindowsApps

    Destination:     AppxStaging

    An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80071160)

    I did every step as every other post recommended such as:1. Boot into Safe Mode.

    2. Right click on Start and click on Command Prompt (admin).

    3. Type these commands below one by one.

    • cd C:\Program Files

    • takeown /f WindowsApps /r /d Y

    • icacls WindowsApps /grant “%USERDOMAIN%\%USERNAME%”System restore failure windows 10 error 0x80071160 :(F) /t

    • attrib WindowsApps -h

    • rename WindowsApps WindowsApps.old

    4. Reboot back into Windows.

    5. Run System Restore.

    And in the end it did not work and I cannot restore to a previous point and I really need that folder back. Please help.
