    system restore not accessible

    Hello,

    Windows Ver 2004

I think System Restore was disabled using a McAfee product my internet provider gives us access to with our subscription. I think because I found registry keys with a McAfee tag that looked like it was disabling SR. I also found I think are Windows registry keys doing the same. In any case I have uninstalled McAfee using Revo Uninstaller, and also used McAfee's uninstaller to finish anything that Revo may have missed.

I still find McAfee registry entries, but nothing I can attribute to System Restore. System Restore returns an error code 0x81000203.

This is the same error code I got when McAfee was installed.

I have searched the internet and this site for solutions and nothing has restored SR to working. I understand the argument that antivirus software disable SR because virus' hide in restore point folders etc., but once you uninstall the software, how do you get the feature back?

    :)

How to delete inactive System Image Restore Points in System Restore

    Windows 10 64-bit.
When I click "show more restore points" in System Restore I see a bunch of old "system image restore points" that were deleted in past and do not correspond to any currently active restore points. Clicking any of these old restore points, I simply get an error message saying they could not be found, and to select another restore point instead.I would like to delete these restore points listings but have been unable to do so.
So far, I have tried steps mentioned below without any luck :

Disk Cleanup through (Csystem restore not accessible :) Properties
Disable System Protection (OFF and ON) in System Protection for OS (Csystem restore not accessible :)
Disk Space Usage to minimum (slider button all the way to the left then 'Delete all restore points for this drive'),
Delete all shown Restore points in CCleaner (the problem ones do not show here),
Reset Windows Backup to Default in Windows 10 with 'Reset_Windows_Backup.bat' utility.

    Any suggestions highly welcome.
