    System restore seems to be frozen. What are my choices?


    I lost all of "My Places" on Google Earth and decided to try system restore to a date 2 days ago. The screen states that system restore is restoring the registry. It has been like this for over 3 hours. What are my options?

    Windows 10 system restore frozen.

    I decided to try system restore after getting the'critical error' message that the start menu was not working. Now, it's obvious that system restore is frozen as it's been running for 90 minutes and for the last 80 minutes has been'initializing'. Is there
    any way of getting out of this situation and getting my laptop back to normal again? I am so fed up with Windows 10 that I would happily go back to Windows 7 if possible. Would it be possible to power down and then re-boot from my Windows 7 disc. This is a
    disc I made and not one which came with the laptop, so I'm not even sure whether or not it will work. If it's possible to do this I would appreciate a step by step explanation of how to go about this. I'm not into the technical side of computers so simple
    easy to follow instructions would be great.Thanks.

    Hi Terrie,

    To address your concern, we suggest that you try to undo the restore or pick another restore point.

    Please follow these steps to access system restore:

    • Right-click (or press and hold) the Start button, and then select Control Panel.
    • Search Control Panel for Recovery.
    • Select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.
