  1. SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED nvlddmkm.sys whenever I try to install a driver for my GPU

    Hi,

So in the past few weeks I have been trying to fix my Dell Inspiron 7577 Gaming Laptop. I'm not quite sure what caused the initial error, but one day I restarted the laptop and it was stuck in a boot loop. That is, it would boot the Dell logo and then go black screen, then back to the Dell Logo infinitely ( I have tried leaving it on for 1 whole day to see if it would somehow bypass the issue, but it didn't). The only thing/s I could do was to press F12 to get into a one-time boot manager which gave me a few options, of which I will include the relevant ones:

    Bios Setup

    Diagnostics

System OS recovery (a tool from Dell which allows you to restore & repair the system)

I have tried to change the boot sequence, restore bios to default etc. etc. and it didn't fix anything. The only thing that would was a cloud restore in the OS recovery system, which I did by connecting to the internet. Bare in mind I did a cloud restore about 4 times as every time I would try to install drivers for my graphics card, the system would either get stuck in a boot loop again, or I would get stuck in an automatic repair loop.

After the 4th time of doing a cloud restore, I tried installing drivers one by one (yes i know) and then restarting after every install. Doing this eliminated non-issues. That was until I got to installing the latest (and after some earlier ones too) GeForce Game ready driver for my GPU. The system again got stuck into a boot loop and so this time, after learning how to get to WinRE from the Dell OS recovery, I restarted in safe mode (worked fine) and uninstalled the nvidia display adapter driver that I just installed, and guess what, I could restart my laptop again. No more cloud restores for me.

Now however, I don't want to try to play any games as the only display adapter driver I have is the Intel one that is in built. Every time I try to install an nvidia driver, there is a BSOD with the following error:

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED nvlddmkm.sys

I don't know what to do, I have (in my knowledge) tried everything. I installed the driver in safe mode then upon restarting I get stuck in boot loops. I tried installing older drivers and the same BSOD occurs. Btw, I am installing the right driver, I have done it through both Geforce experience and manually. My device is a Dell Inspiron 7577 with the latest version of windows installed.

My graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce 1050 Ti.

Please help. Would be appreciated if I knew how to solve this.

    Thank you.

    :)

    Hi Asellia,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

What driver versions have you tried currently for your graphics?
If it is the newest version, 361.43, try rolling back the drivers.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
    2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED nvlddmkm.sys whenever I try to install a driver for my GPU

    Occasional SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED BSOD

Got a SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED BSOD. Opened the MEMORY.DUMP with windbg to see that the faulted driver was a Broadcom wireless driver (bcmwlhigh6.sys) that is not listed in Device Manager. So I thought I'd stop by here for some advice. The requested zip file is attached.

    At your convenience. Thanks.
