Windows 10: Tablet Mode: "Use the appropriate mode when signing in" not working

Surface Pro 7 here. For some reason this option doesn't work for me when signing in/booting up. The desktop and tablet mode options do work though. Anyone else have encountered this problem and found a fix that doesn't involve reinstalling windows?

Tablet Mode doesn't automatically turn on

Hi Roice,

We suggest you to follow the below steps to make the tablet mode permanent:

• Click start and select settings.
• Select settings and then select tablet mode.
• Now you have different options to choose from, please choose settings that suits you.

I suggest you to sign-out from the current user account, restart the computer, sign-in and check if it helps.

Follow the below to enable Tablet mode on Windows 10:

• Press Windows+ I keys, click on System icon.
• Click on Tablet Mode on the left side, and select Use tablet mode,
  Use desktop mode, or Use the appropriate mode for my hardware under
  When I sign in on the right side for what you want.
• When finished, you can close Settings if you like.

Also, I suggest you to install all the pending updates on your device and check if it helps.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

My tablet mode doesnt work

To turn on tablet mode on Windows 10, kindly follow these steps:

• Click on Start; then select Settings.
• Select System; then click on Tablet Mode.
  
• Turn on Tablet Mode.
