    I meant on the GParted USB.

    There's 2 steps to boot the OS:
    1. UEFI->bootloader (bootia32.efi/bootx64.efi)
    2. bootloader->kernel

    For some Atom-based systems, the UEFI only supported 32-bit bootloaders (step 1).

    For Linux, the 32-bit GRUB bootloader can still load a 64-bit kernel (step 2).

    Windows does not support this. A 64-bit installation ISO only has the 64-bit bootloader. As Kari said, at this point you might as well just try the 32-bit Windows ISO.

  2. First, try to use newer Rufus. In Rufus, change Partition Scheme and File System according to the picture. If all else fails, disable Secure Boot and add BIOS Boot (in BIOS/UEFI settings) if possible.

    Using a 32-bit version of the Windows 10 installer ISO seems to have fixed my boot issues! I am using both Rufus as muchomurka suggested, and Bree's Diskpart method, to boot into the Installer.

    Why did I test both methods? Well, that's where the new problem I'm having comes in. When I try to actually perform the install of Windows 10, I get this error:

    I get this error with both methods of USB creation (Rufus and Diskpart).

    The name of the 32-bit ISO is:

    Should I create a new thread for this new problem?

    EDIT: Here's the hash of the ISO:

    I'm not sure of the reliability of this particular source, but this page has the same hash listed above for the version I'm using.

    There are a number of possible causes for 0x80070570, looks like you've eliminated the corrupt install media one with all the making and re-making you've done *Smile but if you want to be really sure, you could try using a completely different route to make the install usb (one last time). Try using the Media Creation Tool to 'make media for another PC' and make another usb. Warning: the MCT fails if the usb you give it has a gpt partition, the MCT requires an mbr usb. See post #30 here.

    One of the simplest fixes was suggested (indirectly) by an MS engineer on this thread about installing Win10...

    Will MCT work for the Education version of Windows 10, which is the only version I have a valid key for?

    Yes, the install media it makes includes Education, and many other editions too (10 S, Home, Pro, Home Single language, and their 'N' editions).

    It's an 'all purpose' install media, you choose which of its many editions to use at install time.

    Thanks, I'll try this when I get home this evening.

    Well, this is what I see when I try to boot into the media created by the MCT for Windows 10. I selected the 32-bit architecture, but everything else was left on the default setting. The USB device has an MBR partition table, and the MCT process seemed to complete successfully.

    I'm not really sure what to try next.

    Edit: I'm currently trying the MCT with the 64-bit architecture, just to see what happens.

    64-bit media doesn't boot (as I was expecting, but I had to try!)

    Alright, trying the 32-bit media again, following the advice to try running the Installer again after the first time I get the Error code: 0x80070570, I still get the error on subsequent tries.

  12. Probably hardware error. Use different flash media. Test it by installing other computer. Test memory using memtest. Check ssd for errors.

    Different way to make tablet usable: install OS in virtual environment, sysprep it. Make a disk image in VM using Reflect. Restore image on tablet, try if it starts.

    Or put it into trash.

    I get the error at the "Getting files ready for Windows (7%)".

    I can't attach xml files here, so I'll paste their contents:

    I was able to fix this most recent problem by using a different USB drive as the Windows install media.

    I'll now mark this thread as Solved. Thank you!!

    So it was corrupt install media after all.
    That's reassuring, you'll not be worrying about a lurking hardware fault.
