Windows 10: Task Bar Issues

Its hard to explain the issue I am having, but essentially the task bar is twice its normal height. The icons on it that represent applications I have open reside near the top, leaving blank space at the bottom. I have tried to restart the computer, play with taskbar settings, use an external monitor, etc... to no avail. The glitch effects how full screen applications work, and I have either ran in to issues opening these types of programs, or been unable to open them at all. It's apparent, based on how the application window behaves before crashing the app, that the task bar is to blame. It doesn't happen all the time, and goes away after 2-3 days, but always manages to come back. Attached is a screenshot of the taskbar.

Cannot modify Task Bar settings

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

• Right click on the Task Bar.
• Uncheck the option " Lock the Taskbar."

task bar not responding

There are several possible reasons why the task bar is not working as expected. One of them may be caused by a corrupted user profile. In your case, we'd like to ask for additional information to help us determine the appropriate steps to solve the issue.
Please answer the following:

• Have you made any recent changes or installed updates before the task bar stopped responding?
• Was the task bar working after you have created the user profile?
• Have you checked if the issue also exists with the other user profiles?
• What build and version of Windows 10 are you using?
