Windows 10: Task Host Window stopping background tasks

I think your right. I contacted my IT service and they told me the graphics card needed updating. I thought that fixed the problem but later today Premiere began to lock up again. I had worked for several hours, there were a few unusual issues but nothing serious. When I finished I clicked the File menu to "save a copy" and the spinner started spinning, 2 hours later it was still spinning and I had to go to the Task Manager to shut it down.

 

I have been getting a lot of "not responding" errors lately, mostly with my video editor. When I "Restart" I get this:"Task Host Window stopping background tasks" with this path: "Microsoft/windows/device directory client/registry Device".

What does it mean and is it related to the "not responding" errors I've only recently started getting?

That's really the bottom line, I guess. If these things don't close by themselves after 30 seconds or a minute or so (as they didn't close yesterday), should I click the button to close them? Thanks for your replies!

I understand a brand new laptop.

Windows 10 monthly updates come out the second Tuesday of every month.

After installing a couple of them things might improve.

You should only need to close some items when turning your computer off.

Try not clicking on anything because they will usually close by themselves if you give an extra 30 seconds to one minute.

It might say - need to close this to shut down, ok to close it?

Give it a chance to close by itself.

 

It means that a process is hung up and Windows has killed it. Sounds like your video editor is the problem.
