Task View with Dual Monitors issue

I have a dual monitor setup:

    - Main screen, where I work using different applications in different virtual desktops.
    - Secondary screen, where another application constantly running in the foreground (e.g.: showing a movie, youtube videos etc.), which I need to be always shown.

When I create multiple desktops in my main screen, Windows also creates the same desktops in the secondary screen.

When working, I alt-tab to move between main screen's applications, which potentially changes desktops.
The problem is that the same desktops are changed in my secondary screen; therefore, my application stops showing when changing desktops.

I was wondering if I can resolve this somehow. For example:
    1) Disabling virtual desktops for my secondary monitor specifically
    2) Copy application to all desktops (therefore, it shows regardless of which desktop I am switching)

    :)

A suggestion to improve Windows 10 useability on systems with multiple monitors

I operate dual monitors with Windows 10 and have the task bar visible on both.
I’d love an option in settings that would allow me so say “Open new app windows on the same monitor as the task bar that was used to launch them”.

Desktop Icons Disappear in Windows 10

When this happens, are you able to see Taskbar? - Yes

Will it bring up Task Manager by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC at time? - No, nothing appears on the screen except my wallpaper. You can hover over an open application on the taskbar, see what is open on the hover screen but when you click on the application,
    nothing appears on the desktop.

Are you using Dual Monitors? - No

I did check my display settings and it was showing dual monitors. I changed it to a single monitor and I will see it that fixed the issue. Thanks

No, you can't do this. A "desktop" is all of your monitors combined. This is why it says "Extend your desktop" when you apply more than one monitors.

Thus, when you have a new virtual desktop, it will display on all monitors, and there is no way to make a monitor see one desktop and a different monitor see a different desktop.

It would be nice if they would add a feature that allows an application to stay on whatever the current desktop is, but I doubt that is going to happen.

I would suggest submitting feedback in the feedback app suggesting this feature. If enough people vote for it, it might happen.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the same thing was happening with OS X Mavericks but they "fixed" it in Yosemite. A desktop was considered as all the monitors combined but after their fix, this was no longer the case and each monitor was separately handled.

With dexpot, you can have an application span all desktops or a set of desktops, It is superior as far as virtual desktops compared to anything else I have used, and works fine under Windows 10. I highly recommend trying it.

Dexpot, along with all other virtual desktop solutions (other than Task View) have inherent issues that are related to how they work and how Windows does things. Dexpot et al work by "hiding" apps when they aren't supposed to be shown. The "virtual" desktops are all the same desktop, and the application does some magic to make it appear like they are separate ones.

Task View actually uses dedicated, separate desktops as far as I know.

The issues with the "fake" virtual desktop approach is that some apps don't play well with it. Some apps refuse to be hidden by another app. Some apps show themselves suddenly for no apparent reason, and they'll just appear where you happen to be. Some apps don't like to be moved around.

You don't have this problem with "real" desktops, because they are actually separate desktops like those used by "Switch User" or by Terminal Services. Each Desktop is managed separately by windows.

Mystere's explanation is exactly why I updated to Windows 10. I have been using Dexpot (among other similar applications) a lot in Windows 7/8 which produced similar problems. Also, Dexpot felt a little bloated or laggy.

The native offering of Windows 10 desktops won me over and I was so excited to finally see this feature (which, to be honest, has skyrocketed my productivity/efficiency in different OSes)

This is the reason I am dying to know if someone has found/invented a workaround for this. It will make many people happy (as OSX did for its users last year).

I should note that I think I was mistaken way back then. It appears to me that TaskView works in the same way that other virtual desktop programs, however MS (as usual) knows a bit more about the inside workings of the OS and can make this function more reliably.

I am very disappointed that MS did not make TaskView work like Sysinternals Desktops with added functionality to move apps between screens, but to be honest, that's probably a much more difficult task.

Option six seem to be the right way to go for me, unfortunately I'll have to activate the insider previews to do the trick.

Any idea on when this is coming to the normal builds?

I'm still on build 10586.545 and it seems like there is no update available. I'm on enterprise tho, does this change anything?
