Taskbar and Calendar Options not saving?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, 1st post!

So, I have turned off 'Input indicator' under 'Turn system icons on or off', I have also adjusted my 'Date and time settings' to show Monday as the first day of the week.

All works well until I reboot, after reboot, all goes back to default, my settings have not been saved???

    Any ideas please??

    :)

Windows 10 taskbar calendar won't open/display full month

Ever since installing Windows 10 my taskbar calendar has never popped out to reveal the whole month when I click the calendar/time that is displayed in the taskbar.

It is the same on all user profiles.

I have tried both suggestions from this post:

My Windows 10 taskbar calendar won't open/ display

    Option #1 found no errors.

And like others at that post, I couldn't try option #2 as the system could not find 'gpedit.msc'.

    Help!

I use the calendar pop out a lot. Very frustrating that a simple tool like this is not available in Windows 10.

Taskbar and Calendar Options not saving?

Ok, so the 'start day of week' issue is now resolved.

The first issue, turning off Input indicator, still remains.

Would appreciate any assistance on this.

  5. Just replying to let you know that you're not alone in this issue. The Win10 Taskbar doesn't save my changes either. Seems like a small bug ... I hope someone or MS will find a solution as I don't need to change the language settings after my initial choice, so what's the point of having it continuously in view ... So if they give you the option to switch this off, Why reset it to it's default setting after every.single.reboot ...

  6. Also just replying to let you know you aren't alone. I dont have exactly the same problem but similar. I found this by looking for "taskbar not saving settings". I notice I have to resize the taskbar after logging in from different locations. i use remote desktop from work and from my phone, as well as console at home. some of the settings dont seem to save across monitor profiles like they did in windows 7.

  7. Just found that it's not just the taskbar that doesn't save any customized settings. Also none of the changes that I make to the start menu (like adding or removing start-up-tiles) is saved. And changes made to programs to make them start-up with windows are lost as well, after every reboot. Seems like the only way to work with windows-10 is to never-ever shut down your PC or even log-out, else everything is back to f$%#ing default.

  8. Taskbar and Calendar Options not saving?

Ok. That's it. Windows 10 just completely froze yesterday and could only be reanimated via "restore settings".
After that, all my installed programs and tools were just gone. It's going to cost me several weeks to re-install all of that.
That was the final straw. I'm going to re-install Win 7 and steer clear from win10 until at least service pack 1 is released.
Win10 is the most utterly piece of junkware, even worse than Vista !!

  9. wow that seems a bit extreme. are you sure that was the only option? sorry to hear that. my experience has been great with windows 10 minus the fact i am resizing the task bar frequently now that i didn't have to do before.

  10. Well it seems that most -if not all- of the problems I'm experiencing are believed to be due to the "new and better way" of file ownership that win10 introduces. When I open files/directories on my other harddrives (non-system), I frequently get the message that I am "not allowed" to access that data (WTF!) and need to force a change of rights there ... I am the only user of my PC, and using the same username as in Win7, without any password restrictions.
This file-ownership change might also prevent some 3rd party programs to store data on the system drive. (that could explain why they e.g. cannot open with windows and keep on reverting to default). Even Win10 itself seems to suffer from these ownership conflicts, which might explain the custom settings saving troubles.
BTW, I have tried to restore to win7 but it failed. Worse than that, my original win7 Keycode is now deemed "not valid" by MS !!??!!?? so I am forced to re-install win10 and using a generic code from the internet. Thanks MS for completely screwing up my system.

    *Edited some typo's*

So, it seems I had two languages/keyboards installed. (English US and English UK)

I removed the English US version and the Input Indicator is now off and remains off after reboot.

Not a complete solution for everyone as you really should be able to turn the indicator off no matter how many languages/keyboards you have installed. But, it works for me so I'm happy! *Wink
