To add the battery icon to the taskbar, select Start> Settings> Personalization> Taskbar and then scroll down to the notification area. Choose Select the icons you want to appear in the taskbar and change the Power to Power button.

To check the battery status, select the battery icon in the taskbar at the bottom right of the screen.

Notes: You have to select Show hidden icons in the taskbar before selecting the battery icon. Energy is not an option in systems without a battery.

 

Battery status not showing up

I have the same issue as the original poster and I followed the same steps given. However, this did not fix the problem. I still have no battery status icon on the taskbar and I cannot turn it on as it is a greyed out option. Are there any other steps
that can be taken to turn the batter icon back on?

To add the battery icon to the taskbar, select Start window > Settings (cob) > Personalization > Taskbar, and then scroll down to the notification area. Choose Select which icons appear on the taskbar, and switch the Power toggle to On.

You can check battery status by selecting the battery icon in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen.

Notes: You may need to select show hidden icons on the taskbar before selecting the battery icon. Power is not an option on systems without a battery.
