    I think the taskbar is larger because time and date are both shown. I have a smaller taskbar in 8.1 but that only shows time.

    Taskbar too big 10061

    On previous version I had both time and date but taskbar was normal size.

    It is strange (or maybe not) that each new build brings with it its own nasties. We just have to live with them until the next drop.

    BTW, is yours a clean install or update?

    But if you change to "use small taskbar buttons" in properties, it will only show the time.

    I have mine set to show small taskbar buttons and it shows both time & date. Build 10061 updated from 10049.

    Try unlocking the taskbar and see if you can shrink it a bit or did it shrink when you changed the icon size? is so I like that it would show both time & date, but can't, for the life of me, see that happening because when the taskbar is as skinny as it goes, there's not enough realestate.

    It doesn't, it shows both. At least it did on previous builds.

    For what it's worth my Taskbar is also stuck at a larger than usual size in 10061.

    Here's a screenshot from a tut I wrote showing small Taskbar icons with both time and date on display.

    I checked mine and the Use small taskbar buttons kept both the time and date visible. The taskbar was a bit tall so I checked Display Settings and saw I had 125% set, move it back to 100% but went back to 125%, old eyes you know. I use a resolution of 1440x900.

    Exactly. I only use small icons on taskbar. Also with previous versions it did show time and date while the taskbar icons were small. Its just now the taskbar is just a little more taller than before.

    Hmmm. Ok I've been using my Win8.1 machine. But personally I like the idea that the date stays now when using small icons(great for laptops) like in Debian based OS's except in windows they're stacked which I also prefer*Thumbs.
