Windows 10: Technical Queries

Hi there,


Recently, I've encountered some issues during the use of my Windows 10 Family Version that I would like your professional advice.


Firstly, I am looking for an effective compression software for my PC. I had tried some, most of them were free versions recommended in your Microsoft Store. But the results were not very satisfied. In the meantime, since the default setting for the system on my PC suggested I would only install any third-party software that are recommended in the Microsoft Store, I was also quite reluctant when I wanted to try out some popular compression software in my Region which was not recommended in the Microsoft Store. Thus, my first question for you is that I am wondering if all the third-party software recommended in the Microsoft Store have all passed some kind of security assessments by your company so that they are absolutely safe for users especially when it comes to private data access and protection. For instance, one Compassion Software shown in your Microsoft Store that I had tried recently asked me for the permission of accessing my iTunes data and other confidential database, which arose my security concern. In other words, do you have any restrictions on the apps and software that recommended in your Microsoft Store? Otherwise, does anyone can get recommendation on your platform/Microsoft Store without any assessments or restrictions, as long as the developers pay their advertisement fee? Finally, what if I just choose software or app that are not appearing in the Microsoft Store? Will this kind of decision put my PC and its system under potential security risk for sure?


Secondly, I am also installing my first Program Software, the Python. At the end of the installation screen, there was a recommended activity named "Disable path length limit". To give your details, it wanted me to change my machine configuration to allow Programs including Python to bypass the 260 character "MAX-PATH" Limitation. As I am a beginner in the field of Computer Programming, though I searched and found the "MAX-PATH" Limitation was a default setting in the Windows Operation System that might had something to do with Program Coding, I am still very confused about this unique terminology. I want your professional advice on whether or not I should make this recommended change on my PC. And if there is any potential security risk by making this change.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
