    Telephone calls identifying themselves as with Microsoft


    Hi,


    My mother is getting numerous calls from people who identify themselves as representatives of Microsoft. Our question is: Are these calls coming from you company? They claim unauthorized people are using her laptop. Mom wants the calls stopped. First she said it is none of their business who uses her laptop. Secondly, Mom who is in her nineties has authorized me (I am her daughter) to use and take care of her laptop. We are both amazed at the number of calls she has gotten about her new computer. We think these calls are scams. Certainly, if there were technical issues Microsoft would contact us either via email or traditional mail. Please advise.

    Bogus "Microsoft" Telephone calls


    Regularly we receive calls purporting to be from British Telecom (we’re not customers), Windows technical department or Microsoft technical department - scammers the lot of ‘em.
    In the UK there’s the Telephone Preference Service but it’ll not stop international scam calls.

    Telephone Calls from a "certified Microsoft Agent"

    I have been receiving calls weekly from a call centre saying following my upgrade to windows 10 my computer is sending them warning information and they need to service the computer. This morning I managed to engage the caller in a discussion and they identified
    it was a result of using windows defender and they had received my telephone number direct from Microsoft. I asked which product and how they were contacted and the claim was they had been appointed by Microsoft as they provide no support themselves.

    The name provided for the company is online technical services and the number provided was (+44) 0202278595

    I assumed this was a scam and refused to provide any details but is anyone else receiving these calls?

    Telephone numbers showing as links in Microsoft Edge Browser


    When viewing my web site pages in Microsoft Edge browser, all the telephone numbers appear as links even though they are not.

    When I view pages using Firefox they look like an ordinary list of telephone numbers as they should. They also look like ordinary telephone number on my tablet

    Any idea how I can stop them looking like links when I use Microsoft Edge Browser
