    The installation of this device has been forbidden by system policy


    Hello everyone!
    I wanted to ask for help since whenever I plug in a USB Stick I get the notification "The installation of this device has been forbidden by system policy," but I still get the notification that the device has been installed and is ready for usage. However, it doesn't show up when I browse the "My Files" folder. Anyone know a solution?
    I use Windows 10 by the way.

    Installation forbidden by system policy


    The device in question is a SanDisk 16gb usb drive. It works ok on this Win 7 computer, and it works ok on another Win 10 computer, but on one Win 10 machine I get this message, "The installation of this device is forbidden by system policy."

    What's the fix?

    You can run the group policy editor, and there you can allow the device (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Device Installation). Not sure why this particular usb device had an issue, but it works now.
