The latest ISO files for Windows 10 64 bit and 32 bit.

I wanted to make a new set of Windows 10 installation DVDs since I figured that the ones I created months ago would be an older build, but the ISOs I downloaded today from here:

    Tech Bench

appear to be the same; for instance the 64 bit ISO file name is "Win10_1511_2_English_x64.iso". When using this build to install Windows 10 it takes quite a while to download all of the available updates. Are newer release version ISOs currently available or do we need to wait for the "Anniversary Update" for new ISOs?

    :)

  3. Winows 10 update

    Hello,

V1703 or Creators Update ISO file should be ~3 GB for 32 bit and 4 GB for 64 bit.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update ISO 32 bit – 3.7 GBs

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update ISO 64 bit – 4.4 GBs

Approximate size. Size may vary with multiple edition ISO files.

    Regards.

Thanks for the reply. Can you explain those numbers? How current is this latest ISO?

The 160426 in the number is the date Microsoft created the ISO file - 16 is 2016, 04 is April, 26 is the day. The last one I downloaded (but I believe it had a date that was 1602 something) was build 10586.104. The th2 means the threshold 2 release (November update). For the anniversary update, you can expect to see something like 160729 and rs1 in the filename. July 29, 2016 and Redstone 1.

There really isn't much need to download a new ISO file as long as the ISO file you have is build 10586 something. The first cumulative update from Windows Update will update it to the latest build anyway and there just isn't that much difference going from 10586.0 to 10586.318 and going from 10586.104 to 10586.318 via the cumulative update.

Thanks for the clarification. My reason for occasionally creating new installation discs with the latest ISO is to minimize the updating phase of the install. I am assuming of course that updates are rolled into newer ISOs, but I don't know that for certain; do you?

The ISO files are NOT updated with each new minor build. For example, the current Media Creation Tool will download:
    10586.0.160426-1409.th2_refresh_CLIENTMULTI_RET_x64fre_en-us.esd

So the date is April, 26, 2016. But the latest cumulative update came out May 10, 2016:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3156421

therefore the current ISO available from MCT will not have the latest cumulative update.

Is the full version number embedded in the ISO? I tried mounting the ISO and then running this from an elevated command prompt:

    dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:X:\sources\install.wim /index:1

It gave me a creation date of 4-27-2016 but not the numbers you wrote in your message.

I didn't get the date created using that command on the Win10_1511_1_English_x32.iso file I downloaded from TechBench on 6/1/16 but the version/build was still 10586.0.

The only real way to determine the exact build an ISO contains is to install it when not connected to the internet and run winver before any updates are installed.
