    It was suggested by the Outlook team that I address this concern with this group.



    There are already updates from our Internal Support about your concern. They’ve suggested that you try resetting Internet Explorer to its default settings to see if the images will load properly. Click here for the instructions.

    Also, upon their investigation, they’ve found out that this may be an antivirus issue. The same thing as what you’ve concluded, it’s more of a Windows issue. Having said that, we’d highly suggest that you consult with our Windows team by posting to the Windows category forum here. Once you’ve created a new post in Windows, you’ll be further assisted by the appropriate team that handles this category.

    Should you have other clarifications on this, don’t hesitate to let me know.


    Emails arrive with only a red x and a message that the linked imaged cannot be displayed. Happens with 1803 and 1809. The Outlook team said it is a windows operating system problem based on the above reply. I still believe it is an Outlook issue.



    I receive daily newsletters from Motor Trend and Automobile magazines. The pictures will not display.

    pdf images displayed as red-x

    Hello,

    I have been using OneNote for years, I also use OneNote on my windows phone. ( I have read the other posts ...do not see an answer to the problem)

    All of a sudden, within the last week or 2 ( ~Jan 15,2018 to now Jan 30, 2018 ) pdf images are be displayed as gray mountain with red x.
    The images display just fine on desktop, laptop and tablet… just the phone will not display correctly.

    I notice that the the image appears to load, the gray moutain outline fills with color as the image is loading… loading appears to fininsh but then displays the "gray mountain and red x".

    Also the thumbnail of the page with the image seems to show what the image is supposed to look like, but again the display of the image is …red x.

    Pdf images that I have loaded on phone for years
    are now displayed as red-x and new pdf images that I am loading are being displayed as red-x's.
    The selection of which images are displayed not displayed seems random.

    Please, I have closed the notebooks, logged-out, new password etc, etc, don't reply with a workaround … why only the phone? What is the true fix!

    Thank you very much for responding to my/our inquiries.

    I would like to respond to your last suggestions first. Why is it that you can't forward this thread to your support engineers for review. I have explained my/the situation in this thread, why must I now go to another portal and basically resubmit my issue.
    Is there some benefit to me submitting vs you submitting the thread?

    To summarize the information received ;

    1. Apps such as OneNote and other Microsoft pre-installed products are apps that can't be uninstalled or removed as they are embedded as part of the operating system.

    2. Three is no known method to reset an individual pre-installed app on the MSoft Lumia 950 mobile. The reset button provided is grayed out, no explanation can be found (or at least none has been received on this forum) as to how to enable this button/function.

    The original subject of this post thread was/is ...pdf images displayed as red-x within the MSoft OneNote application on the MSoft Lumia 950 mobile (only on the mobile... Laptop, tablet desktop displays correctly). I suspect that the cause of this display
    issue is the result of the spectre/meltdown updates that were pushed to the mobile in January 2018, about when this display issue was noticed by me ... coincidence? I think not!

    Waiting on next update to correct this issue.

    windows 10 mail app displays images as red x

    I set up 3 external mail accounts: 2 yahoo and 1 hotmail and all display images with a red x. Strangely my other windows 10 computer having the same email accounts displays all mails properly. I checked that both apps have the same version. So there
    must be something on this computer than's blocking the images. Can someone point me to the area where I can check?
